American Association of Museums
Founded in 1906, the American Association of Museums (AAM) is the largest cultural organization representing the museum industry. We serve over 17,000 members including museum professionals, a wide variety of cultural and science institutions from historical societies to botanical gardens and art museums.
American Symphony Orchestra League
The American Symphony Orchestra League provides leadership and service to American orchestras while communicating to the public the value and importance of orchestras and the music they perform. Founded in 1942 and chartered by Congress in 1962, the League serves nearly 1,000 member symphony, chamber, youth, and collegiate orchestras of all sizes. The League links a national network of thousands of musicians, conductors, managers, board members, volunteers, staff members, and business partners, providing a wealth of services, information, and educational opportunities to its members.
Americans for the Arts
Americans for the Arts is a national service and advocacy organization for the arts. Their website includes information on AFTA programs, services and publications.
Association of Performing Arts Presenters
With over forty years as an active arts service organization, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (Arts Presenters) is the nexus for the performing arts community and the innovators in the field. Representing both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors of the industry, Arts Presenters members hail from all 50 states and more than 15 countries across the globe and range from large performing arts centers in major urban cities, outdoor festivals and rural community-focused organizations to academic institutions, artists and artist managers.
Community Arts Network
The Community Arts Network (CAN) is a portal to the field of community arts, providing news, documentation, theoretical writing, communications, research and educational information. Headquartered at its Web site on the Internet, CAN is a program of Art in the Public Interest (API), a nonprofit organization based in North Carolina.
Cultural and Heritage Tourism Alliance
The Cultural & Heritage Tourism Alliance is a group of dedicated, creative, intelligent marketing professionals who share the challenge of attracting cultural and heritage tourists to their towns, cities, regions and states. Through mentorship and an annual conference, the Alliance is creating a forum for fresh ideas, renewed vitality and a stronger sense of community among colleagues. There is no formal office or association, no dues, and no membership. Anyone working in the industry may be part of the Alliance.
Center for Arts and Culture
In December of 2005, after more than a decade of work dedicated to help improve the research infrastructure, foster and broaden public debate about cultural policy and provide timely information and news, the Center for Arts and Culture brought its work to a close.
Dance/USA
Dance/USA, the national service organization for professional dance, seeks to advance the art form of dance by addressing the needs, concerns, and interests of professional dance. To fulfill this mission, Dance/USA offers a variety of programs for its membership and the dance field, as well as works with organizations within and outside the arts field with whom common goals are shared.
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
located on 17 acres overlooking the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., is America’s living memorial to President Kennedy as well as the nation’s busiest arts facility, presenting more than 3,000 performances each year. Touring Kennedy Center producations and its television, radio, and Internet broadcasts reach millions around the world.
National Endowment for the Arts
The National Endowment for the Arts is the arts agency for the U. S. Government. The NEA provides grants and technical assistance to arts organizations and communities througout the country. Their website includes information on NEA programs and services, NEA news, and links to other national arts organizations.
Opera America
OPERA America — the national service organization for opera — leads and serves the entire opera community, supporting the creation, presentation, and enjoyment of opera.
Performing Arts Research Coalition
The Performing Arts Research Coalition (PARC) is a groundbreaking collaborative project created to improve and coordinate the way performing arts organizations gather information on our sector, so that we can offer a more unified and factually based voice on issues of common concern, and aid the performing arts in developing a national model for arts research collaboration. PARC will help performing arts organizations across the United States significantly improve their management capacity, increase their responsiveness to their communities, and strengthen local and national advocacy efforts on behalf of American arts and culture.
Smithsonian Institution
The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum complex and research organization. Composed of 17 museums and the National Zoo in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, and 2 museums in New York City, the Smithsonian's exhibitions offer visitors a glimpse into its vast collection numbering over 136 million objects.
Theatre Communications Group
Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for the American theatre, is the hub of the not-for-profit theatre community, well-known for their conferences, publications and grantmaking programs. Founded in 1961 to fuel the emerging regional theatre movement, TCG established a vital communications network for theatre professionals in pursuit of theatre as an art form rather than as a profit-driven enterprise.
