"Women who worked during WWII as part of the war effort, or Rosie the Riveters as they became known, recount stories and talk about their experiences. These women took on jobs traditionally reserved for men out of necessity, and in the process, challenged gender roles that ultimately changed the mores of the United States.
This compelling documentary, from filmmaker Brian S. Armstrong, captures some of the stories behind the war effort at home. Ten local Rosies from Northwest Georgia and Rose Buds (children of Rosies) share their unique perspective on what it's like to be at war. The film also features Georgia Highlands College History Professor Dr. Steve Blankenship, whose knowledge of the WWII era helps put these experiences into a historical context.
Women did everything from welding battle ships to breaking Japanese code. In this film you will see some of those faces behind the iconic label Rosie the Riveter."
