Gail Deschamps' "Buried Demons" Book Release Party

Deschamps Books & Plays is gearing up for the launch of Robert and Gail Deschamps’ new psychic mystery-thriller—BURIED DEMONS—in bookstores on May 25.

Set in Georgia, Louisiana, New York and Messina, Sicily, Buried Demons is the story of beautiful Cassandra Gautier, 35, who heads an international security business. Despite professional success and powerful friends in the political and FBI world, Cassandra’s personal life is empty and alone. A former lover, SEC attorney Alexander Rollins surfaces and asks her to secretly investigate his wealthy father’s death, but she turns him down—
their stormy love affair ended six years ago and she doesn’t want to get involved. But Alexander’s father calls out to her from the grave in a disturbing psychic vision and she changes her mind. Immersing deep into the investigation, Cassandra finds herself caught between a horrific world of supernatural visions, murder and political intrigue, and her growing passion for the only man she can love. After an assassination attempt, it becomes apparent her life and the lives of the people she loves are in danger. But she can’t retreat—if she does, a brilliant killer will get away with the perfect murder.

Writing Buried Demons was an exhilarating experience,” Gail Deschamps says, “one that kept us breathless and questioning the twists and turns of the plot. We wanted to use the Deschamps ‘ French Chateau—Luc de Bearn—as a residence for our Mafia Don (Giovanni Greco); it was a perfect setting for a character of enormous power. During the writing process, Robert and I had no idea how the story was going to end and we literally re-wrote the ending nine times.” “It certainly kept us focused,” says her husband, Robert. “There were times when we didn’t get much sleep.”

The Deschamps have been a writing team for many years. Their plays have received grants and awards across the southeastern United States and both are recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rome Area Council for the Arts and are members of the Rome Area Writer’s Club. Gail Deschamps has received an individual artist grant for her writing from the Georgia Council for the Arts and is a member of the Atlanta Writer’s Club. A lyricist, theatre director and playwright by profession, Gail is the former founder and artistic director of Florida Shakespeare Festival at Vizcaya and The Minorca Playhouse, Coral Gables—built by her husband Robert—where theatre productions garnered numerous nominations from the South Florida Critics for theatre excellence.
