Critically acclaimed artist, Wallace “Knox” Wilkinson, Jr., is best known for his brightly colored works on paper. His reoccurring themes of room interiors, animals immersed in fantasy-like worlds and elaborately adorned women illustrate the artist’s keen imagination and intuitive perspective.
A self-taught artist, he has risen above all odds to exhibit a rare talent. He consistently blends his warmth and humor into each piece and simply states, “I gotta draw. I feel God gave me a talent and wants me to share what I was given.”
Referred to as an outsider artist by some, a 20th century modern artist by others, his naïve, yet sophisticated motifs are brilliantly executed in his kinetic, often playful style.
His work is included in extensive private, as well as corporate collections across the country and was featured in Sotheby’s first Folk Art show. In 1990, Knox was honored by the Governor of Georgia where he received the prestigious Governor’s Artists of Excellence Award for his outstanding work. A noteworthy talent, Knox Wilkinson, Jr. is both a gifted artist and a triumph to the spirit of mankind.
