Rome Art Coterie will sponsor its annual National Juried Art Exhibition. The exhibit will consist of artwork done by artists from across the nation. Selections for the show were made by juror, Dr. Linda Hightower, Professor of Art at Kinnesaw College. She judged over 300 submissions of artwork coming from thirty-four states.
The public is invited to view the artwork at RACA, 248 Broad Street from April 1 - May 2. The gallery is open Tuesday thru Friday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A reception to honor the artists and present awards will be held on April 4th 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The public is invited. Preserving a Legacy: The History and Work of Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians. Join Cathy Fussell for a discussion about author and playwright Carson McCullers. Fussell is the director of the Carson McCullers Center for Writers and Musicians which is dedicated to preserving the legacy of McCullers and nurturing young American writers and musicians. The center also operates a museum in McCullers’ childhood home in Columbus, Ga. The discussion will be held at The Martha Berry Museum on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Rome Art Coterie will hold its monthly meeting at RACA, 248 Broad Street. A viewing of art submitted to the National Juried Show will be viewed and discussed at the meeting.

Berry College Visual Arts Department will host the Student Honors show in the Moon Gallery. Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 am - 4 pm. For additional information call 706-236-2219.

The African American connection of Performing Arts is preparing for the upcoming production “Celebrating Our Freedom through Praise, Song and Dance – Part One”. Juneteenth Freedom Day on June 15, 2008.
The AACPA has three dance troupes; children - ages 4-12, teens - ages 13-17, and adults, 18 and older.  We are currently recruiting participants of each age group for the upcoming production.   
 Sign up is scheduled Monday, April 21st through Wednesday, April 23rd at Thankful Baptist Church in the Collins Building, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm each day.  Rehearsals will begin on Monday, April 28th.   The final cut off date for enrollment will be May 9th.
