RACA Summer Art Camps
The Rome Area Council for the Arts will sponsor summer art camps for children ages 4-9. The camp sessions will be 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM, Monday through Friday. June 16-20 and July 14-18 will be for 4-6 year old. June 23-27 and July 21-25 will be for 7-9 year old. The camp will take place in the art classroom at the RACA offices located at 248 Broad Street in historic downtown Rome.
The charge for the week-long camp is $100.00 per student, with a $30.00 non-refundable deposit due at the time of registration and the balance due by the morning of the first day of camp. Each camp is limited to a maximum of twelve students. The registration fee includes instruction, supplies and refreshments. The registration deadline is Wednesday at 3:00 PM the week before each camp begins.
The instructors for the art camps will be Kathy Fox (4-6 year old) and Connie Saunders (7-9 year old).

The Rome Area Writers presents Dennis E. Hensley, Ph.D., who will present a program at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 101 East 4th Ave. on June 13, 2008, 6 pm-8 pm. The titled of the presentation is “Eighteen Rules for Contemporary Writing” and “Word Power”. Those planning to attend may want to bring paper & pen for note taking. Admission is free.
Dr. Hensley is a contributing editor and columnist for Writer’s Journal and Advanced Christian Writer magazines. He is the author of 51 books, including The Power of Positive Productivity, Man to Man, and The Gift. Dr. Hensley is a judge each year for the Evangelical Press Association Awards, The Christy Fiction Awards, and the Gold Medallion/Christian Book Awards. He directs the professional writing major at Taylor University Fort Wayne, where he holds the rank of full professor of English. During 2001-02 he was the “Distinguished Visiting Professor of English and Journalism” at the Regent University Graduate School of Communications.

The African American Connection of Performing Arts, presents “Celebrating Our Freedom Through Praise, Song and Dance” Part 1. There will be skits performed by the AACPA Youth and Adult Dance Troupes and other Praise Dance Teams.
