About the artist
Jedd Lovel is a Rome, Ga. musician who has been honing his drumming skills for more than half his life.
He started experimenting with percussion at the ripe old age of eight, and the love grew from there. He was busy with marching band, jazz band and symphonic band while at Rome High School, which eventually led him to the Atlanta Institute of Music. There, he studied under Tom Knight (drummer for TLC, Monica), Chris Coleman (drummer for Prince), and Creig Harber (toured with The Drifters, The Platters, Martha Reeves, and the Vandellas).
In the past few years, Lovel has played with various local bands such as Red Eye Jedi, Pollard Greens Jazz Quartet, Jerry on the Moon and spot gigs for groups such as Apple Scraps, Captain Soular Cat.
In addition to drumming, Lovel also has strong orchestral experience through his participation with Roman Festival Brass, Rome Symphony Orchestra and studio sessions for groups ranging in genre (gospel, country, rock and jazz).
When he isn’t jamming around town with one of his bands, Lovel is teaching precocious, eager-to-learn kids of all ages at Stephens' Music Company in Calhoun and Rome, Ga.
