The Rome Area Council for the Arts (RACA) is seeking a passionate, collaborative, and community-minded Executive Director to serve as the organization’s lead advocate and administrator. This individual will help guide the vision of RACA while building meaningful partnerships, supporting local artists, and expanding access to arts and cultural opportunities throughout Rome and Floyd County. This is a part-time position designed to provide flexible leadership for the organization. Work hours will vary throughout the year based on programming, events, fundraising activities, and organizational needs.
The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, community leaders, volunteers, educators, donors, and arts organizations to strengthen RACA’s impact and continue fostering a vibrant creative community.
What You'll Do

Lead initiatives that align with RACA’s mission to promote and support the literary, visual, and performing arts.

Provide strategic leadership and help shape the organization’s long-term vision and goals.

Serve as the primary ambassador and advocate for arts and culture throughout the community.

Support fundraising, sponsorships, grants, and community partnerships that strengthen the organization.
Programming & Community Engagement

Coordinate and support arts programming, educational initiatives, workshops, exhibits, public art projects, and community events.

Collaborate with local artists, nonprofits, schools, businesses, and civic organizations.

Promote participation in arts and cultural opportunities across Rome and Floyd County.

Help expand awareness of the impact the arts have on education, tourism, economic development, and quality of life.
Operations & Administration

Oversee day-to-day organizational operations, communications, scheduling, and community outreach.

Maintain digital platforms, marketing efforts, and community arts calendars.

Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to support organizational planning and sustainability.

Support volunteer engagement and organizational growth.
What We're Looking For

Leadership experience in nonprofit management, arts administration, community development, or a related field.

Creative thinking, initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications & Preferred Experience

Previous leadership experience within a nonprofit organization, arts organization, community-focused organization, or similar environment preferred.

Experience with fundraising efforts, sponsorship development, grant support, donor engagement, or community partnership building is strongly preferred.

Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and successfully coordinate multiple projects and events simultaneously.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, ages, and experiences.

Comfortable utilizing technology, digital platforms, social media, and organizational software to support communication, programming, and outreach efforts.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service and community-oriented mindset.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for meetings, events, and community engagement activities.

Ability to assist with event setup and related activities, including occasional lifting of materials and supplies associated with programming and events.

Candidates must be current residents of Rome or Floyd County, Georgia, and maintain residency within the community throughout their employment.

This is a part-time position averaging approximately 15 hours per week. Summer responsibilities are generally limited, resulting in reduced hours during June and July, while additional time may be required during peak programming, fundraising, and event seasons.

Selection Process
